About Myositis

Myositis is a rare and complex autoimmune disease characterized by chronic inflammation of the muscles, which leads to muscle weakness and damage. This condition can affect people of all ages, but it is most commonly diagnosed in adults between the ages of 30 and 60. Myositis can manifest in various forms, including polymyositis, dermatomyositis, inclusion body myositis, and juvenile myositis, each presenting with its unique set of symptoms and challenges.

In my journey with myositis, I have experienced firsthand the profound impact this condition can have on daily life. Muscle weakness, fatigue, and difficulty performing routine tasks are just a few of the symptoms that individuals with myositis may face. Despite its debilitating nature, understanding myositis and its management options can significantly improve quality of life.

About Nasal Cancer

Nasal cancer, specifically nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), is a rare type of cancer that occurs in the nasopharynx, the upper part of the throat behind the nose. This area is responsible for connecting the nasal passages to the rest of the respiratory system. Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is distinct from other head and neck cancers due to its location, risk factors, and treatment approaches.

My journey with nasal cancer began with subtle symptoms that could easily be overlooked, such as nasal congestion, nosebleeds, and a persistent sore throat. As the disease progressed, more alarming signs like hearing loss, neck lumps, and difficulty breathing became evident. Recognizing these symptoms and seeking timely medical attention is crucial for early detection and effective treatment of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. I underwent 33 treatments of radiation and 3 treatments of chemotherapy.
